  • Aponte: an indigenous reservation that coffee saved

The process to become a sustainable coffee town was difficult. At 2000 meters above sea level, the trees grow more slowly and their grains are smaller, so much so that instead of walking with a bucket tied to their waist, as is customary, the collectors usually kneel or sit on the grass to pluck the hidden grains. between the branches.

  • Gift ideas for coffee people

Whether you’re looking for ideas for the holiday season or you’re celebrating a birthday for the coffee lover in your life, we put together a couple of gift ideas for coffee people to help you sort through the myriad of coffee stuff out there.

In each guide, you will find items that range in price, from affordable to pretty pricey, as well as options from small businesses to Amazon options. The guides are not all-inclusive and are from my personal perspective, so take it all with a grain of salt and use them more as a starting point in your search for the ideal gift.

    A note about gifts

Coffee people can be very specific about the things they love and hate. The more experience we have, the more specific we can get about equipment or the type of coffee we like and dislike. So if you have doubts, ask them a bit about their preferences: “What’s your favorite coffee roaster? What’s your favorite way to make coffee? etc.”

Generally speaking, if you don’t know what to get them, hit up your local roaster and ask the baristas at the register for guidance on getting some solid beans. It does help to know what the coffee person in your life leans towards though: naturals vs washed, what region they love, etc. Another idea is, if you’re both in the same area, invite that person on a coffee date to a local spot or do a tour of various coffee shops in your area.

A few things to maybe avoid buying as a gift:

      • Flavored coffee, or coffee that has been aged in barrels. It’s usually not high -quality coffee and they have a very fake/chemical taste to them.
      • Art, totes, or mugs with overdone coffee-related phrases like “death before decaf” or “but first, coffee.” Unless you know that person really well and you know they would appreciate that kind of gift
      • Huge mugs. Anything that’s more than 12oz or maybe 16oz (if it’s a thermos type of cup) is way too much, in my opinion.

Hope these gift ideas for coffee people help you surprise that special someone with a thoughtful and intentional gift.
